Shortly after I blogged last, somebody sprinkled Grace with pixie dust and she all of a sudden learned how to crawl Forward!! Pretty good for 6 1/2 months, eh?
I kind of thought she would have her own unique style of crawling, as most kids do, with one leg dragging or a scuttle of sorts etc. But her form is actually quite precise. I still wonder how she finally "got it"after months of bouncing on her hands and knees. I wish she could tell me.
Checking to make sure mom is still where she left her.
If I were a child, and had both soft carpet and hard tile to crawl on, I would choose the soft carpet. Alas, Grace makes a beeline to the tile every time we put her down.
Perhaps it is because it is so tasty.
Can you say, motivation to keep the floors clean? She LOVES to play with rugs. She likes to look under them over and over and pick them up. This inspired me to get a new clean rug for her to play with and to wash the other mats. In my overzealous attempt to save her from a spill of little metal balls, however, I did manage to break our brand new vacuum last week. Very frustrating.
Our little winter princess, just home from a chilly walk.
It was a balmy 45 degrees the other day and Grace and I were in Heaven taking a nice walk in the park. I can't wait until the Spring comes.

Grace has really taken to eating oatmeal and fruit. It is so nice to be able to feed her when we are eating. She also really loves to drink water out of a regular cup. Much of it ends up going down her front, but she thinks it is so refreshing. At least she is well hydrated, I guess.
Cousin Alex with Grace
Grace and I went up to Bountiful the other Friday night to visit Angie and Alex and Johnny while both our husbands were at work. It was really fun and Alex and Johnny were super excited to see "baby Grace" at their own house! Sadly, this was right before the dreaded croup hit and all 3 of the kids ended up sick. Luckily for us, Grace didn't seem to get the wheezing and fever as badly and she has basically recovered now. Johhny and Alex seem to be doing better too, which we are so thankful for.
Pulling to a stand in her crib for the first time
Grace's newest feat is pulling to a stand. The only place that she can really do it well is in her crib. This of course means we need to lower the crib, but since Grace won't sleep there right now anyway (she currently only will sleep in her carseat...long story...why oh why did the phrase "sleep like a baby" ever get coined?? anyway, I digress...) it has been a great place for her to practice her new trick under close surveillance.
We also gave Grace her first haircut last week (the balding monk mullet was getting a little out of control) but I didn't have my camera to do the before and after. I think this picture above is after, actually, so it really doesn't look too different from the front. She is a growing girl, that is for sure. She has been pretty fussy the last few days and we have been concerned that she might have an ear ache or be teething. The Dr. says she may have some fluid in her ear, but no infection and that her teeth don't look close to cutting, however, so I am left to wonder what is throwing her off kilter. Hopefully she will be back to her happy self soon. For now she is sleeping...and for that I am supremely grateful!
